Basil Liongs – Head, Citizen Action and Support Group

Basil is a PGDM from IIM, Bangalore and a Graduate in Agriculture from TNAU, Coimbatore. He is a Social Scientist and Project Management specialist with 30 years of experience in the Development Sector. Undertaken several impact assessment, monitoring & evaluation of development programmes. He is experienced in organisational management with ability to monitor, mentor and coach senior-level staff to manage and develop high – performance teams and operational excellence.

Basil has experience in diverse sectors including: Microfinance, Social Inclusion, Rural Livelihood Promotion, Institutional Development Services, Sustainable Agriculture & Business Development Services, Water Supply and Sanitation, Tribal Development, Enterprise Development, Capacity Building and Mentoring.

Basil has previously worked with Centre for Symbiosis of Technology, Environment & Management, a development planning and organisational research firm in the development sector. Also worked as Vice-President (Operations) in BASIX, a livelihood promotion institution which include Financial Inclusion Services (FINS), Business Development Services (BDS) and Institutional Development Services (IDS). Has worked in FAIR, a management consultancy group working out viability plans for non-performing industrial units and provide management support for implementing agreed turn over. In FAIR, worked in partnership management, M&E of projects financially supported by International funding agencies, provided guidance and assisted NGOs develop and implement new strategies and organisational arrangements to fit changing conditions.

His expertise include: writing proposals, concept notes, reports, research findings and impact assessment and program monitoring; large scale demographic and behavioural surveys; situation analyses; audit and syndicated research; social marketing and distribution studies; and behaviour change communications etc.
