The Indian Society for Ecological Economics (INSEE) in partnership with the Kerala Institute of Local Administration (KILA), Thrissur organised a three-day international conference on Sustainability, Institutions, Incentives:Voices, Policies and Commitments from November 8-10, 2017. The conference looks at ways through which sustainability could be achieved in a rapidly urbanising environment.
Priyanka Agarwal, Programme Officer, Environmental Governance Group presented a paper co-authored by her along with Arvind L Sha, J Jangal and Bhargavi Nagendra on ‘Promoting collective action to improve water security in peri-urban areas around Bangalore city using social accountability tools’. The study focused on the challenges of urbanisation and its effects on peri-urban (semi-urban) areas with its key focus on securing water resources.
