Annual Reports

April 2021 March 2022

First, it is my duty, on behalf of the Board of Directors, to congratulate the Director and the staff of PAC, for having commendably managed the year 2021-22, in spite of the travails of the COVID-19 pandemic. The activities of the Centre continued without much disruption; in fact, we have been able to substantially support the government in the health care services during the pandemic.

We are delighted that two women members have joined the PAC Board. I would like to welcome them and look forward to their contributions which, I have no doubt, will add great value.

I am happy to say that we launched a new programme-the Distinguished Lecture Series (DLS) and the first lecture was delivered by Dr Sujatha Rao, former Secretary to Government of India, Health and Family Welfare in November, 2021 on a topic of current relevance-Reforming the Health System in Indian States in the background of the pandemic, which was highly educative and well received.

Another breakthrough achievement pertains to establishing partnerships with other state governments- two states, very different from each other; one a backward state, Meghalaya in the north-east and another, a progressive state in the south, Tamil Nadu. PAC will work with them on data science applications to improve their governance systems. Our engagement with the governments on SDGs with focus on goals relating to education, primary health care and livelihoods, matters that touch the lives of the poor and the vulnerable, continues with commitment.

With the adverse impact of the pandemic hopefully receding, I am sure in the coming year, we’ll be able to move forward with greater speed in our efforts towards achieving good governance.
